SOLARBUILDERMAG.COM | 21 Stäubli Stäubli Electrical Connectors (formerly Multi-Contact) has amassed more than 20 years of experience in the pho- tovoltaics industry. The secret sauce is its MULTILAM technology, which features specially formed and resilient contact elements. Constant spring pressure from MULTILAM louver ensures continuous contact with the contact surface, resulting in a constantly low contact resis- tance that mitigates power loss and heat seepage. With more than 1 billion connectors in use across the planet, those incremental gains have made a huge impact on both cost and energy savings. Midnite Solar The NEC 2017 implementation deadline arrives at the start of 2019, and the Midnite Solar Shut Off Box system might be the lowest cost way to comply with 2014 as well as 2017 and still install systems the way you're used to. The system uses a receiver at the module that wires in just like an optimizer and a transmit- ter that is installed in or near the inverter. The installer does not need to install any other wiring between the transmitter and receiver. Midnite says it's a fail-safe system, and if the receiver does not sense the signal from the transmitter, it turns off and opens the circuit. In addition, Midnite Solar offers a Bleed Down Unit for grid-tied inverters that do not meet the NEC 2017 690.12(B)(1) requirement that states controlled conductors outside the Array Boundary need to drop to 30 V or less within 30 sec- onds of initiating rapid shutdown.
